Imagine you are living life where you aren’t so bothered by the everyday occurrences of life, being cut off in traffic, the complaining neighbour, overthinking every move you make the spilt milk scenario!

It would be lovely; wouldn’t it imagine the freedom and improved health in your mind and physical body when you stopped letting every moment bother you.

To have this freedom is simple by taking time to invest in your spiritual health.

We know that a healthy mind and body improve the quality of our life. So, as we feed

our body food and water and take rest we must also understand our soul has requirements.

to refuel us to the deepest levels.

Good spiritual health results in feelings of peacefulness, being connected and freedom from

the overwhelm of life. The petty problems of the world become bearable and feelings of worry, overwhelm and frustration becomes manageable.

In order to understand spiritual health first let us take a look at the concept of spirit and does this really exist?

Have you ever thought about who you really are? Maybe you once attended a yoga or meditation class or even had a healing session.

While practising or experiencing you may have felt a separation or space from your mind and body?

That feeling is the self (spirit) which is separate from your material mind and body. Deep

and confusing maybe?

Let us look at spirit (also called atman in yoga or soul) this way.

Our physical body is made up of matter, material energy like atoms and molecules but lacks

awareness of our spirit.

Spirit has completely different qualities and is literally the essence of life itself.

When material and spiritual energy combine magic happens like animals, humans, and

trees. So, without the influence of spiritual life we would not exist.

Another example is somewhat heavier, yet it explains it so clearly.

Observe the difference between a living human being and a corpse. What is different about,

the corpse is that it has gone from being attractive, relatable, and lovable, to undesirable.

and no-one wanting to touch it?

The difference is that the person – the soul, or spirit – has left the body and is no longer able to influence the material body with life force. This shows that our true nature is spirit.

In our modern world filled with challenges we often identify as a physical self, such as

I am Michelle, I am mother, I am a yoga teacher.

But really this is just when I connect to my physical material body deep down, I am so much.

more than this.

concept that we are spirit in essence changes us

outlook on life.

When we have faith and surrender to our path and believe in something greater than

ourselves it helps us not feel so overwhelmed by life and reduces anxiety and overwhelm of being caught up on life.

It is through yoga (union of mind body and spirit) and Ayurveda (physical science-based system that helps us move along the spiritual path) coming together to create a life for

higher purpose.

If you’re feeling the pull of life dragging, you down and you’re looking for a deeper understanding and purpose maybe it’s the right time to explore your connection to spirit.

You are so much more then what the mirror reflects at you.

I am spirit is a great mantra to try this week.
