We all desire to experience personal wholeness. This is the state of well-being referring to the mind, physical body and spirit all living in harmony together. Bliss!
In this fast past world often before we have awareness we can find ourselves out of balance, and in more severe cases at a point of burnout, and overwhelm even depression.
To restore balance in your body we first must understand the modes of life!
Which lane are you in?
Let me share something with you to help you understand yourself a little better.
It is that the mind takes on the quality of its environment.
Our environment is influenced by the three modes of material nature. These important principles are:
Sattva - known as the mode of goodness
Rajas - known as the mode of passion
Tamas - known as the mode of ignorance.
It is under the influence of these three modes that you think, and act respond and make decisions depending on the influence we are under.
I want to let you know that we can take control and implement this knowledge to balance our minds and bodies to think, feel and act in a way that keeps us on the path to vitality and peace. in this fast-paced world.
Lets explore these three important principles.
The mode of sattva!
This means you are living in a harmony with yourself, those around you and nature. You are in a balanced state, and you become less effected by the changes in life.
In this mode you a eat a nourishing diet of whole foods, take time for self -reflection, spiritual nourishment such as meditation, and spending time in nature to create a balanced and peaceful life. Contentment is found here.
Let’s look at the mode of Rajas. - You’re chasing gals and nothing will get in your way!
Your energy self- seeking, but what happens we forget to slow down and smell the roses and create work/life goals? We go out of balance.
This can also be caused by too many stimulants, coffee, chocolate (yep unfortunately too much chocolate even the dark stuff can be harmful. Eating very spicy foods, meats, and salty foods.
To reduce raja state is by avoiding overindulgence (over thinking, over exercising, over working, overeating!)
Instead start to eat more whole foods, reduce stimulants, meditate & immerse yourself in nature, make sure you are getting enough sleep!
Once we have an awareness of this state we can reflect on life and make changes to guide ourselves back to balance.
The last mode to share is Tamas, we have all been here and it’s not an inviting place It is called the mode of ignorance. When you are in this mode you may feel stressed, anxious, heavy, tired, and negative. And you’re not even aware you’re behaving this way! What a state of imbalance!!
It can be caused by consuming Junk or heavily processed food, over stimulation from media and substance abuse.
As you can see this is the opposite of the mode of Goodness. By slowly adding activities that are of passion (raja state) and adding a whole food diet you will slowly transform to a satvatic state. Therapies such as sound healing, aromatherapy, meditation courses and exercise can all help too.
The ultimate goal is to avoid Tamas state and use raga state to reach sattva. The more we live in alignment with mother nature we will find more peace in our mind and body as nature is the greatest healer of all.
Having this awareness of the mind and body will allow you to identify when your body needs support to adjust and find balance.
